Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Umer Dasti is a fellowship trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeon.  

The focus of Dr. Dasti’s practice is the advanced treatment and surgical care of shoulder pain and complex shoulder injuries. He treats the entire spectrum of common shoulder problems such as injury to tendons and ligaments, dislocations, arthritis, and fractures.  He believes all viable nonoperative treatment options should be exhausted before considering surgery.  When surgery does become necessary, Dr. Dasti has extensive experience performing arthroscopic shoulder surgery, rotator cuff repair, labrum repair, shoulder replacement, reverse shoulder replacement, and repair of shoulder fractures.  Given his expertise, he regularly evaluates patients seeking second opinions and frequently performs complex revision surgeries for individuals with previously failed surgical outcomes. 

In addition to his specialized shoulder practice, Dr. Dasti also provides comprehensive care and surgical solutions for select knee injuries and conditions. All non-surgical options will be explored.  When indicated, Dr. Dasti has broad experience with routine knee arthroscopy and meniscus surgery. 

Dr. Dasti was born and raised in New Jersey, and completed his undergraduate studies, medical school, and orthopedic surgery residency in the state.  In 2014 Dr. Dasti completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic Surgery, and Shoulder Surgery at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, MA.  While there, he trained with leaders in the field, published research, and served as an Assistant Team Physician to the Boston Celtics.  He continues to lecture locally on topics related to shoulder surgery.  He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). 

Dr. Dasti resides in Bergen County with his wife and children.  He enjoys the great outdoors, snowboarding, and travel.
